The Youth Environment Program promotes and implements various conservation activities in drawing the attention of civil society, the scientific community and students towards conservation. Also, YEP is a platform for young, enthusiastic and creative minds to explore the potential of oneself through involvement of an individual in various environmental programs and opportunities. YEP aims to inspire and encourage Nepal’s younger generation. YEP provides a space to engage youth in current environmental issues and enhance their professional skills.
Youth for Smart Solutions
Over 18 years, WCN has expanded its conservation and sustainability activities and advocacy all over Nepal. It works with community forests, women groups, youth, schools, enforcement agencies, and relevant partners to promote democratic and sustainable natural resource management, wildlife conservation, habitat protection, and green enterprises.
Nepal Prakriti Pathshala (NPP) is WCN’s collaborative program with Danish Forestry Extension on environmental education and sustainability advocacy working directly with the government and local communities. Today WCN’s NPP is a leading force in promoting and institutionalizing progressive and Interactive Environmental Education (IEE) in Nepal and for advocating greener livelihoods and lifestyles. WCN/NPP has been organizing various programs like Symposium on Environmental Education, Exposure Visits, Eco-Smart School Grant Competition, Workshops, and Environmental fair and discourses for different target groups like students, teachers, academia, policymakers, media, and the general public. NPP has been organizing a youth conference "Youth for Smart Solution" for 100+ young scientists every two years since 2014. In 2014 the conference was focused on Climate Change. In 2018 the conference stressed on Environmental Problems and Role of Education in its Solution. For the year 2020, amidst the COVID19 pandemic WCN conducted a virtual edition of Youth for Smart Solution 3 – “Looking at Sustainability Post COVID19”.
