Workshop on Local Curriculum Development for Grade 1-3

A three day workshop on the development of local curriculum for Grade 1 – 3 was organized by WCN Nepal Prakriti Pathshala (NPP) in collaboration with Jhuwani Resource Center and Nepal Prakriti Pathshala Network (Teachers’ Network) at Ratnanagar, Chitwan from 19 to 21 December 2014. Twenty-three teachers from different schools under Jhuwani Resource Center, Chitwan participated in the development of the curriculum. A total of 34 Schools are under this Resource Center. WCNNPP Nature interpreters and field coordinators facilitated the group work during the workshop. The Curriculum “Environment Conservation Education” for Classes 1 – 3 has been developed in continuation with the local curriculum developed for classes 4 -5. The books developed under this curriculum are being taught in 34 schools under Jhuwani Resource Center since 2069 BS.

The Closing Ceremony of the workshop was marked with the presence of distinguished guests, Mr. Diwakar Dhungel Executive Director, Curriculum Development Center (CDC), Mr. Tek Narayan Pandey, Director, Department of Education (DOE), Mr. Sitaram Koirala, Chief Trainer, National Center for Education Development (NCED) and guests from District Education Office Chitwan, Ratnanagar Municipality, Program manager WCN/NPP and Principals of different schools. The workshop was chaired by Mrs. Anita Adhikari, Resource Person, Jhuwani Resource Center.
