Green Schools In Nepal

On the eve of World Environment Day 2019, June 4, Centre for Education and Human Resource Development and WCN jointly launched the Green School Resource Handbook and also premiered the movie ” Hamro Harit Vidyalaya” (Our Green School) amidst a massive gathering at Rastriya Sabhagriha, Kathmandu. The event was inaugurated by Honorable Minister for Education, Science and Technology(MOEST) Mr. Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, Secretary for the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Mr. Khagaraj Baral, Director General of Centre of Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD) and Mr. Shyam Bajimaya, Board Member, WCN.

The Green School Resource Handbook is jointly published by Nepal Government, MOEST, CEHRD and WCN based under the Government’s Green School Directive 2075. In order to promote the concept of the Green School , a short movie has been developed by Shubha Media Pvt. ltd. Written by Abhimanyu Niravi and directed by Rajesh Biswakarma featuring Priyanka Karki, Gaurav Pahari and Child artist Ashray Paudel, the movie has been developed with the support of Danish Forestry Extension (DFE) and WCN’s Nepal Prakriti Pathshala.

During the event his honorable minister presented the certificate of appreciation to the Ratnanagar Municipality, Chitwan, 28 schools under Nepal Ma Vi Resource Centre, Chitwan and 6 schools of Khaireni Ma Vi Resource Centre, Chitwan and Gosaikunda Gaonpalika, Rasuwa and 15 Schools of Rasuwa for successfully implementing local curriculum in their respective schools since 2069 BS. Also awarded during the event were grantees of WCN Eco Smart School Projects 2018 who had successfully completed their projects. His Honorable Minister also awarded WCN partner schools for completing their activities under 5 year 5 star certification program.

Chaired by the Secretary for the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the event was attended by our representatives of MOEST, CEHRD, Curriculum Development Centre and its relevant departments, partner organizations, schools, teachers and students.
