The women group "Kerabari Group" formed under DauuneDevi Community forest harvested their first batch of lemongrass on December 2017. The harvest was then distilled and the oil is sent to the company (HBTL) for test. The distillation unit which had been abandoned in the community forest was brought into use after Dauune Devi CF repaired it with the support from WCN and HBTL.
WCN, HBTL and DFE with the support of NDF is working towards empowering the women of 10 community forests of Nawalparasi in NTFP cultivation which would not only bring into use the degraded/ unused lands of community forests but would also add value in sustaining the lives of women through conservation and protection of natural resources.
