2nd National Children Conference on Environment and Climate Change

The 2nd National Children Conference on Environment and Climate Change was organized by WCN/NPP on June 14 – 15, 2012 at St. Xaviers School, Jawlakhel. The first day of the news commenced with a movie on climate change followed by a presentation on environment by Ms. Sanjeevani Y Shrestha. A nationwide story and poem competition was also organized on the same day followed by two workshops on photography and art. Mr. Om Prakash Yadav and Mr. Sanjeev Maharjan were the respective facilitators for the workshops. Their artwork both from the photography and the art workshop were showcased during the closing ceremony of the conference on June 15, 2012. The winners of the story and the poem competition were announced on the second day of the conference. The winners for the story competition were: First – Yash Nishant, Shuvatara School, Second – Rashmi Sewa, North Point Academy, Third – Samvandha Pathak, Budhanilkantha School, Consolation – Sangita Tamang, Shree Shyame Wangphel Higher Secondary School. The winners for the poem competition were as follows: First – Sumitra G.C, St. Mary’s High School, Second – Ishan Raj Dhakal, Budhanilkantha School, Third – Suraj Mahato, Shree Bakulahar Secondary School, Consolation – Arman Bajracharya, Budhanilkantha School.The last day of the conference ended with a drama by the LA theater group on the consequences of deforestation followed by a song from Little Angels School. A musical performance name “Spring” was also presented by the students of Shuvatara School.
