Wildlife Conservation Nepal (WCN) in partnership with Danish Forestry Extension, Denmark has been organizing a youth conference "Youth for Smart Solutions" for 100+ young scientists every two years since 2014.  This year amidst the COVID-19 pandemic WCN is going to conduct a virtual edition of Youth for Smart Solution 3 – “Looking at Sustainability post COVID-19” on 20-22nd December 2020. 

The objectives of the Conference are to:
  • Conduct an engaging and informative national conference for 100 young scientists of Nepal creating a discourse on contemporary issues on education, communication, and environment for sustainability after COVID-19
  • Create a platform where all relevant organizations can come together and share case studies, success stories, and challenges in the field to work on sustainability while living with COVID-19 and create discourse between young scientists and national and international experts on sustainability issues
  • Share the proposed ideas from the conference participants and presenters with relevant stakeholders to take the idea forward, nurture and develop it into a feasible reality
  • Organize an exhibit where young scientists can present innovative ideas, concepts, and findings
This conference will mainly focus on sustainability issues after COVID-19. Day 1 of the conference will focus on Environment Sustainability issues amidst the Pandemic in Nepal as this pandemic has disturbed the political, social, economic, religious, and financial infrastructures and made us realize that the system we live in is not sustainable anymore. While Day 2 will focus on our National Policies and Strategies for achieving Environmental Sustainability while combating the negative effect of Pandemic.  Day 3 will focus on the importance of communication in pursuing sustainability and recovering from natural and health disasters. 

Who can Participate?

If you are a Nepali young individual (18 – 27 yrs old) who is pursuing or graduating student of Bachelor/Master in Sustainable Development, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Management and other relevant field OR a young Graduate starting out work, you are eligible to take part in this conference.

100% participation/attendance of participants is required for certification by the organizers.

Call for Paper:
Wildlife Conservation Nepal (WCN) announces Call for Paper Submission to the participants registered for Youth For Smart Solutions 3 - Looking at Sustainability post COVID 19.

Interested participants are requested to submit research papers based on recent studies (2018-2020) in Nepal on sustainability issues, practices and sustainable development goals. Shortlisted 6 papers (in total) will get the opportunity to present their papers at the conference.

Guidelines for paper submission:
- The preferred length of a full paper (including footnotes) is 2,000 words (maximum limit). In general, please confine your paper between 5-6 pages, everything included.

- It must include an Abstract (no more than 150 words) and 3-5 Keywords.

- The paper must be sustainability solution oriented. 

- The paper should also include the Authors’ autobiographical details with the name, academic and professional qualifications, institutional affiliation, current title, and position of each author.

- Full paper must be written in English, typed using Times New Roman (normal style and font size 12), and in MS-Word. Page size should be A4, single column with 2.5 cm margin on both sides with single line spacing.

- All pages of the manuscript (including Tables and Figures) should be numbered.

Once the paper is accepted for the presentation during the conference, the presenter will be allocated 10 minutes time for the presentation. Presentations should be done with PowerPoint (max 10 slides).

The top three papers will be awarded NPR 10,000, 7,000, and 5,000 for securing first, second, and third position.
