WCN's 8th National Nature And Wildlife Photography Exhibition

WCN’s 8th National Nature and Wildlife photography three day Exhibition, 2016, supported by Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd concluded on December 28, 2016 at Kathmandu Durbar Square, Basantapur. The exhibition is a culmination of WCN’s 8th National Nature and Wildlife Photography Competition announced on June 2016. A total of 104 photographers participated in the competition. More than 500 photographs were submitted on different categories of Flora, Fauna, Macro, Human Interaction with Nature and Landscape. The photographs were judged by the judging panel comprising of Nepal’s eminent photographers Mr. Mani Lama, Mr. Raj Bhai Suwal and Mr. Nripa D Khadka and Mr. Sunil Sharma, Officiating Director, PR and Publicity, Nepal Tourism Board. Mr. Ayush Man Kayastha won the Grand Prize and the category prize winners were as follows – Flora Category : Mr. Rameshwar Maharjan, Fauna Category: Mr. Sanjay Maharjan, Macro Category: Ms. Shreemila Bajracharya, Landscape Category : Mr. Prakash Budha, Human Interaction with nature: Mr. Chandra Man Dangol and Ms. Nikita Shrestha Shakya, Mr. Ayush Man Kayastha, Mr. Santosh Raj Pathak, Mr. Umid Ratna Shakya are among the Top Ten Winners. The inauguration program was graced by Mr. Prasanna Yonzon, Chief Executive Officer of WCN who delivered the opening remarks. Mr. Raj Bhai Suwal, one of the judges, shared a few words on his experience and about the photography festival. Mr. Gyanendra Dhungana, CEO, NB Bank Ltd also shared a few words on the occasion. A special felicitation was also marked during the event. Mr. Durga bahadur Kunwar was felicitated for his work as a tree grower in the Nursery for the last 40 years. Mr. Kunwar at the age of 87 is still actively involved in the nursery in Chalnakhel under the Department of Forest and has raised more than 2 cr saplings which has been distributed in different parts of Nepal for plantation. Ms. Sanjeevani Y Shrestha Program Manager delivered the vote of thanks. This event is a part of Photo Festival “Nature Through Lens” and is in collaboration with Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. Photo Walk, Eco restoration in Padampur Community Forest (3000 high value and multipurpose species were planted in June 2016 ) by NB Bank Ltd and WCN were also conducted as the part of the festival.
