With high poaching incidences in national parks and protected areas and rise in illegal wildlife trade, Nepal’s tigers and rhinos are most likely to be poached to extinction if stringent measures are not taken in time. The protected area system can protect tigers, rhinos and other endangered species but may not be able to address poaching of tigers and rhinos which is market driven by oriental countries for use in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Intervention is needed to protect Nepal’s tigers and rhinos otherwise it will have a trying time to survive in the poachers’ terrain and the best alternate to do this will be fortifying enforcement agencies such as Nepal Police, Nepal Army and Armed Police Force through training and capacity building. The Enforcement Agencies have the ability and capacity to thwart illegal wildlife trade and can bring a total change in the management and protection of endangered wildlife species.
