Symposium on the Importance of Environment Education in Schools

A symposium on the Importance of Environmental Education in Schools was held in Kathmandu on Nov 22, 2018. The Symposium was inaugurated by Mr. Babu Ram Poudel, Director General, Centre for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD). The symposium focussed on the importance of environment education in schools where Ms. Sanjeevani Yonzon, Director, WCN presented on School Garden – as learning spaces, Mr. Narayan Kaschichwa from CEHRD presented on Green Schools and Directives and Ms. Bina Gurung shed some light on Interactive Education – earlier the better. An award ceremony was also organized to recognize the winning schools of the WCN NPP Small Grant Project ” Eco Smart Projects in Schools’. NPP also awarded the eco teachers from the National Eco Teacher Network for successfully completing their responsibilities. Present during the symposium were the teachers and students from different schools of Kathmandu and Helambhu, Eco Smart School Members and Mr. Surya Ratna Gubhaju , Chair, WCN, Mr. Shyam Bajimaya, Board Member, WCN and former Director General, DNPWC, Mr. Sita Ram Koirala, Education Officer, KTM Municipality and Chair person from Helambhu Gaupalika. This symposium was organized by NPP, a joint initiative of WCN and Danish Forestry Extension in association with CEHRD.
