Livestock play a significant role in the agricultural systems of Nepal. Many households under the project in Nawalparasi district led by WCN, DFE and HBTL and supported by NDF also practice livestock farming. Cattle, goat and pig are some of the dominating livestock found in this region. Since livestock play a vital role in the agricultural system, its management is also very essential for the sustainable livelihood of the people dependant on it. There are lots of opportunities and challenges associated with livestock management. With this in view three one – day trainings were conducted where 84 members of 10 community forests of Nawalparasi district participated on September 12, 13 and 14, 2017. The main objective of the training was to create awareness on livestock management. Dr. Himal Luitel, Asst. Professor, Agricultural and Forestry University, Rampur, an expert in livestock and Mr. Martin Jorgensen, Managing Director and an expert on livestock management from Biosa, Denmark were the trainers of the training facilitated by WCN.
