Combating Wildlife Crime, Protection and Conservation

A two day training on strengthening Armed Police Force (APF) in combating wildlife crime, protection and conservation was organized at APF Headquarter in Halchowk on January 16-17, 2018 by WCN. Sixteen Deputy Superintendent of Police and 37 Inspectors stationed in different districts of Nepal participated in the training. The Opening ceremony on January 16, 2018 was marked by His honorable Mr. Keshari Raj Pandit, Executive Director, Nepal Judiciary Academy, AIG Mr. Puspa Ram KC, APF, Mr. Man B Khadka, Director General, DNPWC, Prof. Dr. Dharma Dongol, Chief, NHM, Dr. Chuda B Shrestha, General Secretary, WCN and former Police and Mr. Prasanna Yonzon, CEO, WCN.The training was divided into two sessions: technical session and Group work. The technical sessions comprised of different presentations on Illegal wildlife trade,Judiciary role in wildlife crime control, Biodiversity, Trophy identification and database management, wildlife crime investigation and control and CITES. The speakers during the technical session were Honorable Mr. Keshari Raj Pandit, Executive Director, NJA, Prof. Dr. Dharma Raj Dongol, Chief, NHM, Mr. Man B Khadka, DG, DNPWC, Mr. Top B Khatri, Freelancer and Conservationist, Mr. Narayan Rupakheti, DNPWC, Dr. Chuda B Shrestha, General Secretary WCN and Former SSP of Nepal Police, Mr. Buddhi Ratna Dongol, Botanist and Ms. Sanjeevani Yonzon, Director, WCN.
